    Everything in this picture is perfect. The tree, the position of the car and the figures, the sense of foreground space, the feeling of an uncluttered tranquil town where buildings still look as they were meant to, the range of light and dark.

    Here’s a history of the building and of the “nice corner of jostling old houses” that was demolished to make way for it:
