The 24-domed Intercession Church on the short Vytegra River, which flows into Lake Onega near St Petersburg. Built in wood in 1708. Photographed by Prokudin-Gorskii in 1911. Burnt down to the ground by accident in 1963.

    Really, the fascination of this (excessively photoshopped?) photograph is not the church. It is the illusion that one is able to walk into an unpolluted Russia.
