The bleached race

White (i.e., bleached) human beings of North European origin, especially those that speak Teutonic languages such as English, Dutch and German, seem to be peculiarly susceptible to race feeling nowadays.

Malcolm X referred to Toynbee’s use of this word in his autobiography.

Postscript, August 31 2013: A sentence in the first volume of the Study suggests that Toynbee took “bleached” from “Dixon, R. B.: The Racial History of Man (New York 1923, Scribner)”.
